I am interested in coming on a Tuesday night. I have been kayaking 3 to 4 (maybe 5) times, and am very much a beginner. I would also need to rent. Can someone let me know if the Tuesday event happens every week and if there is anything special I need to know/do.

just come out to the main boat ramp Tuesday a 6pm. If you need to rent a boat just let them know you are with the Stateline Paddlers club.

I just moved from Michigan to the Fox Lake, IL area and for the life of me I can’t seem to find any local kayak clubs on line or in the local paper. I haven’t seen more that one or two kayak’ers on the water so far and they had no idea of any.
Any one from your club know of any contacts here? I never had this problem finding a local club before and hope it isn’t due to the relatively few rivers around here.

I recently joined the Lincoln Heritage Water Trail group in Central Illinois and helped out with their river race. I will be helping them with the event next year and we are hoping to grow it in both attendance and length. I was wondering if I could ask a few questions about what would be of interest for paddlers in a race event. I’m hoping to get some advice on the length of the race and potential prizes or takeaways. We had both racer and recreational categories too and would like to make next year’s event open and accommodating to those wanting a serious race and families look for a leisurely paddle.

Do you have a beginners group for older people?
We do not have a group for beginners or older paddlers. We are not that big of a group. We are happy to help you get started not mater what your age or experience in paddling. The best time is come out on a Tuesday night at Rock Cut and we can help you. Or I am out at the park several times a week. All you have to do is ask for help. Just wait until spring or summer. If you do not have a boat yet you can rent them from the Park too.

Not seeing any good options for a place that paddlers of our area can get together and discuss various paddling topics, I created a forum dedicated to Paddling of all types in Northern Illinois and surrounding areas. Please feel free to stop by and say.

Illinois Friendliest Paddle is ready to go. The floating boat docks with kayak EZ launch are in the water awaiting YOUR use. The launch is at McConnell Bobtown Landing. The takeout is at McNeil’s Damascus Landing just 8 miles downstream. You can’t miss it. The takeout is right before the only bridge on this trip. The shuttle is very easy also. ALL RIGHT HAND turns. Down Damascus Road to the take out. Up N.Flansburg Road to the launch site. There are port-a-potties and picnic tables at both sites.
The one problem with this trip is the lack of a spot for a lunch break half way down the river. The banks are steep and muddy, or privately owned. If you do a little paddling, the trip will take 2-3 hours. The river gauge is in my web site, http://www.paddlethepec.com. Food & drink is available at the McConnell Bar & Grill. Charcoal grills and fire pits are available in the picnic area. You gotta see this place!
