Conditions: Partly sunny, about 72 degrees, north winds at 10-15 mph.

While the weather had been a bit dicey the night before, at paddle time the temp was a cool 72 and the sky was partly c;oudy.The group met at the boat landing in Wyalusing State Park near Prairie du Chien, WI. The began and ended at the launch. We began by paddling through the meandering backwaters of the Mississippi, eventually joining the Wisconsin river for a short distance and then on to the Mississippi itself. We circled around a large island and rejoined the backwaters to the launch. The backwaters were extremely calm and the Miss. was no problem at all, but a strong south wind would probably have a big effect.

After loading, some of us stopped at the nearby Dew Drop Inn to participate in a cholesterol raising session.
